MANCHESTER PLANNING BOARD TABLES WATERFORD CORPORATIONS'S PHASE II DEVELOPMENT PLANS FOR A FOURTH TIME.

At an August 22 business meeting, the Manchester Planning Board voted again to table the Waterford Corporation's single-family homes project.

An announcement was made that the Planning Department staff had met with Waterford's representatives and it was agreed that the developer would be permitted to request a 60 day extension before a vote was taken on its project. A letter, written by the developer's attorney, had been sent to the Planning Board formally requesting the extension. The letter was distributed to members of the Board who were in attendance.

Subsequently, the Board voted unanimously to remove the application from the table, to approve the extension and to retable the application. No explanation was given to the public as to the reason for the extension, and there was no discussion by Board members: Waterford's problems in complying with city standards for the development, and warnings from environmentalists about impacts of the development on TNC's ecological preserve were not mentioned.

Members of the Board who were present when the Waterford application was taken up were Kevin McCue, Raymond Clement, Robert Stephen, Christopher Dodd, Alderman Mary Sysyn, Peter Capano and the following Alternates - Alderman Betsi DeVries, Todd Connors, and George Holt.

The Waterford application was supposedly not to be considered until the Planning Board's October 24 meeting.
